Another, more apropos name for the universe, for me, feels like it should be "World U". Why?
Because the universe feels very much like it is a gigantic classroom....once we tune into it. Actually, even when we are not, it is trying to move us in the right direction (although I did not see it at the time).
The universe implements a system of sticks and carrots; that if played perfectly, brings a person to the discovery that I am not a person. It brings a person to the understanding that I have never been this person. This is the ultimate prize in the game of life. I come from a family of gamers. This is the ultimate game. Better than crib.
Eventually, the action figure will figure out that the more love he gives, the more love he receives.
Eventually, the action figure will figure out that doing his best to act in an impersonal manner brings about a series of unlikely events resulting in serendipity in ways that the player could not have imagined.
The action figure understands that he cannot give love and help others until he loves himself and loves life.
It is the understanding that winning and losing is insignificant in comparison to how we play the game. I can't remember if I beat my brother in tennis. It is insignificant. I can only remember the joy of playing.
It is the same with life. How we play the game is an art form. (I think that is why people love Federer...because he so plays beautifully).
The following is a recent dialogue between Francis and a truth seeker. They were talking about the decay of morals in society (and that it is not a new phenomenon, and how it is accelerating, and how wisdom seems to be an inverse of prosperity). It was not said in a complaining manner, but as an observation.
".....but it's not important. The goal is not the evolution. The human species is not going to last forever. The planet earth is not going to last forever. Everything is impermanent. The question is what do we do with this impermanence? This impermanence is simply a vehicle, to reach that which is permanent. That's all. The rest is not important. The rest is just a game"
It is such a beautiful understanding of what is important and what doesn't matter.
