Competing Realities

Updated: Nov 21, 2020

I understand how silly my earlier blog question appears, (Is there anything here?), because I am obviously experiencing something. It would be silly to suggest otherwise.

This body, for example, is not nothing. But it isn't necessarily a thing either. If you are open, I am suggesting that it is somewhere in between. I am not my body, but I too, am somewhere between not-a-thing and nothing. As is everything.

It sounds crazy, but it is really just a question of competing realities. The matter model of reality vs. the Consciousness-only model of reality. It is a question of what was here first. I'm saying that if you are interested in pursuing the truth, you need to be open to the possibility that Consciousness was here first, before matter, before thoughts, before time, before concepts.

I've conducted a thorough investigation. To continue believing in the matter model of reality would be ignorant of the facts. The most compelling pieces of evidence:

-My direct experience of the mind-body-world.

-Based on the experiments that I've been running, the world is not random,

-Consciousness is obviously real, and we are obviously sharing the same reality.

-(While not as important) I can confidently say that contemporary science is 100% consistent with Consciousness-only model, but the matter model can't make this claim.

It is not that simple because our minds are incredibly powerful, and they have been deeply conditioned to view the world a certain way. After we complete our investigation, we might need to spend some time and energy re-wiring our minds. In other words, this bio-computer needs to be reprogrammed.

For me, it is very much like seeing the image of the scary old witch vs. the beautiful young woman.

Can you see the old scary witch? Can you also see the young beautiful woman? Can you go back and forth? It is usually easier for us to see one over the other...at least in the beginning. Let's say for example, at first, you can only see the old witch. But then someone tells you that if you look at the image differently, that it is possible to see a beautiful young woman instead. So then you start looking for the young woman, because you want to see her.

Eventually you will find the young woman, and then you will be able to traverse back and forth between the two images. I find it interesting that after you find the young woman, and if you focus your stare at the young woman long enough, you can quickly lose your ability to see the old witch...which means you might need to start over again.

It is also interesting that you can't see both at the same time. We have to choose.

This would be a pretty good description of how I've been spending my time and energy the past 1-2 years. I am leaving behind the matter model of reality, and reprogramming my conditioned way of viewing myself and the world, so that it is consistent with the Consciousness-Only way of viewing reality. So again, in much the same way, we have to choose.

Most of my life, I could only see the scary witch. Any then somehow I got a glimpse of the young beautiful woman. So now I am spending all of my time and energy trying to see the young girl again. I am starting to see her more and more. It is getting clearer and clearer, however, sometimes I slip back to my old ways of seeing only the old witch.

Seeing the young beautiful woman is special. We need to nurture this glimpse before the mind quickly re-builds itself and goes back to its comfortable and familiar way of seeing the old witch. We need keep taking the different paths that bring us back to her. The more often we walk these pathways, the easier, and faster it gets to see the beautiful young girl.

We have to completely leave one of the images behind, before we are allowed to see the other image. Similarly, we have to completely drop all of our beliefs (about ourselves and the world), before we will get a glimpse of the truth. Just staying in the not-knowing is enough.

I can't think of a faster way of completely dissolving beliefs than the experiential understanding that Consciousness was here first. In other words, matter is dependent on Consciousness for its existence, and not the other way around as we have been deeply conditioned to believe. This contemplation is a pathway back to truth.

So when I sink into the knowing-understanding that Consciousness was here first, reality reveals itself and the beautiful young woman comes into view. This is not a perfect metaphor, since our view of the world doesn't change, but instead, our understanding of what we are seeing changes.

Seeing the the old witch now is never a problem because I know that the beautiful woman is always there. She is always with me because she can't go anywhere, and as a result, the sense of doom is gone. Somehow I always know that everything is always perfectly ok.

I can only say that I've never been happier, so something is working :)
